Dave Lincoln, PE, PLS, LC

Mr. Lincoln obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis in 1973.  Mr. Lincoln has diverse engineering experience that includes international project design and construction management.  Over his 35 year professional career, he has been involved in more than 15,000 projects.

He has extensive experience conducting civil engineering forensic services, preparation of supporting documentation and professional evaluations with subsequent expert testimony.  Mr. Lincoln’s area of forensic specialty (ies) is/are in the area of civil engineering including On-Site Sewage Disposal System failure analysis and substandard Civil Improvement Facilities investigations.

He is a licensed engineer in California and Hawaii and is also a licensed California Surveyor and Contractor.  Mr. Lincoln served four years with the USAF and was honorably discharged in 1969.


David P. Long. PE, MSCE

Mr. Long graduated from California State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Environmental Emphasis) in 1997.  He currently has active professional licensure in California, Oregon, Nevada, Texas, and Rhode Island.

From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Long was a member of the faculty at Cal State University and was adjunct professor of Civil Engineering where he taught Probability and Statistics and Engineering Economics.

His disciplines vary and include residential and commercial structural engineering, infrastructure design, soils investigations, feasibility studies, and forensic engineering.

Mr. Long has investigated numerous structural failures on various building systems including wood-framed, straw bale, reinforced concrete, steel-framed and structural insulated panel construction.  His knowledge of deterministic and stochastic processes has been invaluable in the preparation assessment reports for use in expert testimony.


Thomas Roman, Architect

In 1984 Mr. Roman graduated from Lehigh University (Bethlehem,PA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture.  Mr. Roman has over 25 years experience as an architect, and is currently licensed in the states of California and Pennsylvania. He has successfully completed a wide range of both residential and commercial projects, utilizing numerous types of construction systems, materials and methods.

Mr. Roman has extensive experience as a forensic architect utilizing his knowledge of the building and accessibility codes, building materials and construction systems.  Additionally, he has provided professional consulting services for a variety of commercial projects.  Recently Mr. Roman traveled to China as a technical consultant to a Chinese development firm to review construction systems and provide his professional evaluation of a proposed multi-building complex located in Qingdao China.


Michael Connaughton, Paladin Consulting

Michael Connaughton has worked in the insurance industry since 1981.  He has worked as an independent large loss claims adjuster for many insurance carriers including Farmers Insurance, Allstate, Metropolitan, Nationwide, Travelers, CNA, Firemen’s Fund and Bankers.

His expertise is in large residential and commercial catastrophic insurance losses. He earlier served as founder and president of Apex Restoration, Inc. a construction firm which specialized in fire and water damage insurance losses. His background as an insurance claims adjuster and as an experienced general contractor has given him a unique perspective on the claims process.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

20 years experience in insurance residential and commercial property claims as an insurance restoration general contractor, an insurance claims adjuster and a public insurance adjuster representing the policy-holder.

California Licensed Insurance Adjuster from 1993-present.  Broad knowledge of disaster related losses including Oakland Hills and Los Alamos Firestorms, Loma Prieta and Northridge Earthquakes, as well as numerous fires and other catastrophic losses across theU.S. Large Loss Fire adjuster representing Farmers Insurance inNorthern California.

Comprehensive experience in the adjusting of both commercial and residential property losses related to fire, earthquake, and flood claims as a catastrophe large loss claims adjuster for many of the nation’s insurance carriers.
